  Ride the
Pullman Train
to Buxton

Enjoy a rare outing on NSW's oldest train — the 1899 vintage Pullman Train, hauled by ‘Legend of Steam’ loco 3526.

Round trips depart Thirlmere for Buxton
at 9.30am, 10.45am, 12.00pm, 1.15pm & 2.30pm.

Travel Standard Class and admire the ornate timber and brass craftsmanship of another age.

  Ride the
vintage Railmotor
to Picton

Experience a trip on the vintage Railmotor — the lifeblood of country branch line travel between the 1930s and 1980s.

Round trips depart Thirlmere for Picton
at 10.15am, 11.30am, 12.45pm & 2.00pm.

Explore the
Rail Heritage
Centre
at Thirlmere

Kids of all ages love exploring NSW’s largest display of heritage trains.

  • Go behind the scenes on a guided tour of ‘The Roundhouse’ — the buzzing workshop at which the centre’s operating heritage trains are maintained and restored.

  • Climb aboard steam locomotive ‘Bronzewing’ — specially returned to steam for the Vintage Train Weekend. Meet the driver, feel the heat of the fire and learn about the locomotive's controls.

  • Locomotive turntable demonstrations at
    10.00am, 11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm, & 2.00pm daily.

  • Inspect the engine room and driver's cab of a powerful diesel loco.

  • Miniature train rides and Jumping Castle.

  • Picnic on the grounds, visit the kiosk or BBQ sausage sizzle.

  Ride the historic
Double Decker Bus
to Couridjah

Hop aboard the historic bus at Thirlmere Railway Station and be transported back in time through the bush to Couridjah Station — stand on the platform, watch and photograph the steam train storming past this quaint wayside halt and then motor back to Thirlmere.

Buses depart Thirlmere Railway Station at 75-minute intervals commencing from 9.15 am — 45 minute round trips.
