Tickets are on sale now. You can book securely online.

What are the ticket prices?

Adults $30, Seniors $25, Kids (2 & over) $20.

Children under 2 are admitted free
- if not occupying a seat on Donald's train.

Who needs tickets?

Tickets are required for all guests aged 2 and over.

What is included in the ticket price?
A ticket for Day Out With Thomas includes:
- a steam train ride with Donald
- Thomas & Friends themed entertainment, including:
- Thomas Storytelling
- Movie Station
- Mini Train Rides
- Jumping Castle
- Rail Discovery Tour
- Face Painting and more.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, the Chairman of the Railway on the Island of Sodor.
How will I receive my tickets?

Tickets purchased 1 week or more in advance of the event, will be posted to guests within 3 business days after purchase.

Guests who purchase tickets less than 1 week prior to the event, can collect their tickets from Thirlmere Museum entry gate on the day.

Are there any refunds?

Sorry, we're unable to offer refunds or exchanges without return of tickets to point of sale — and then only until 1 week prior to the event. Cancellation fees may apply.

Will Thomas the Tank Engine be there?

Yes! Thomas the Tank Engine has travelled all the way from the Island of Sodor and has arrived Right on Time to meet you and your family – there are also opportunities to have family photos taken with Thomas.

Will Sir Topham Hatt be there?

Yes, Sir Topham Hatt will take time away from his busy schedule as Chairman of the Railway on the Island of Sodor, to oversee the train operations and activities on the day.

Is it essential that tickets be purchased in advance?

Due to the popularity of Day Out With Thomas, advance ticket purchase is essential.

When purchasing tickets, you will be asked to select a specific day and time for your ride with Donald (or we will indicate which of the remaining times are available).

Your ticket is valid only for a train ride at that time, but will be available for all-day access to the Museum on the day selected.

What times do trains depart?
Thomas’s friend, Donald, departs Sodor Station (Thirlmere) at:

 
09.30 am
12.00 pm

When should we arrive for our train ride?

It is recommended that guests arrive at Sodor Station (Thirlmere) at least 20 minutes before their scheduled departure.

Please have all tickets ready for inspection when boarding the train, at the Museum gate and before participating in any Thomas activities within the Museum.

Is there assigned seating on the train?

Yes, seating is assigned on the train so that everyone with a ticket gets a seat. Please check the departure time, carriage and seat allocations on your tickets.

If you're travelling with a pram, please cloak your pram in our enclosure on Thirlmere Station platform, well before boarding the train.

Any guests with mobility requirements must contact our office in advance so arrangements can be discussed.

How long is the train ride?

The return train ride is approximately 50 minutes in duration.

Are you limited to just one steam train ride?

Due to the limited space available, each ticket entitles the holder to one steam train ride with Donald, however, we will also have Mini Train Rides available in the Thomas event area – one ride on this train is included in your ticket price (together with other inclusions).

Is there an additional cost for parking?

There's plenty of free, on-street parking available in Thirlmere.

Are food and drinks available?

Food and drink will be available for purchase at the Rail Heritage Centre™ and in shops in Thirlmere Village.

Will there be toilets available?

Ample toilets are available at the Rail Heritage Centre™ and close by to Sodor Station - toilets are not available on Donald's train, so passengers should arrange their toilet schedule accordingly.

What if there is inclement weather?
  The Day Out With Thomas event will take place, rain or shine.

Thirlmere is just an hour (85 kilometres) from the Sydney CBD
along the M5 - an ideal, easy day trip.

Driving? Head for Picton from the M5 and follow the signs to Thirlmere,
7 kilometres past Picton.
